Fr. Apostolos Hill is a Greek Orthodox priest and musicologist whose pastoral and scholarly work has spanned decades. He was ordained first to the Diaconate in Kansas City, MO in April of 2000, then to the priesthood on July 15, 2001 in Omaha, NE and assigned to the Assumption Cathedral in Denver. His early ministry included serving as a cantor, youth director, and catechist in various parishes. Before his ordination, Fr. Apostolos enjoyed a lengthy business career in the transportation and cardio-thoracic medical device industries.
Fr. Hill’s musical contributions to the Orthodox Church are notable. He has recorded several acclaimed albums of Byzantine chant, including Gates of Repentance, Hymns of Paradise, and Cycles of Grace: Hymns from the Great Feasts These works have been well received in Byzantine chant circles and are considered bestsellers in the genre.
In addition to his liturgical and educational work, Fr. Hill has been active in pastoral ministry. He has served as Deacon at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church of Omaha, NE before his assignment to the Assumption of the Theotokos Metropolis Cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in Denver, Colorado, where he ultimately served as Cathedral Dean until relocating to Arizona where he is pleased to serve the Holy Trinity Cathedral Cathedral family as Dean and Senior Pastor.
Fr. Hill’s ministry reflects a deep commitment to both the spiritual and cultural life of the Orthodox Church, blending liturgical music, catechesis, and pastoral care. His work has helped preserve and promote Byzantine chant traditions while serving the needs of Orthodox communities across the United States. Fr. Apostolos and Presbytera Denise, the love of his life, both hail from Central Indiana where they wed in 1983 and are proud parents of four grown children and grandparents to nine grandchildren who live throughout the US and Europe.
Fr. Alexander Eliades was born in Northern California and grew up in the Orthodox Church. He graduated from University of California, Davis with a degree in History and minor in Religious Studies. After a year of travel and then assisting a local church he felt the need to go to seminary to see what it was God was trying to push him to do. One of the summers between classes he met his wife, now Presbytera Laura and they married before his final year at Holy Cross.
He began at Holy Trinity Cathedral in June of 2019 and was ordained to the priesthood in October 2020. While in Phoenix Father and Presbytera have welcomed 3 children, Max, Penelope, and Markella.
Deacon John Thrasher is a retired clergyman of Holy Trinity having served as a deacon from the early 1990s until 2019. The father of 4 daughters and many grandchildren, he now assists in distributing Holy Communion to parishes who are in need of help on varying Sundays.
